The proof of the pudding...

It used to be said that the proof of the (quality of) the pudding is in the eating.

But there has been much skulduggery about the quality of olive oil and so much difficulty for the average consumer to tell the difference between genuine extra virgin olive oil and inferior oils, that laboratory testing procedures have been set up to assess oils and define EVOO (Extra Virgin Olive Oil). The industry also conducts competitions to allow producers to assess their oil against other producers.

La Grue Olives is involved in transparent procedures to verify the quality of its oil.

La Grue Olives has always claimed that its cold pressed oil is EVOO and we have always sent samples to accredited authorities out of each batch (vintage) for testing. There are several accredited laboratories in Australia and overseas and we have used two of the most important ones over the years since we had our first harvest.

We prove that our claim of producing EVOO is true by publishing our oil's test results. We also submit our oil for independent expert assessment with independent judging panels in olive oil industry competitions and shows.

EVOO from La Grue Olives

In 2010 we entered our oil in a competition run by the Mornington Peninsula Olives Association (MPOA) and we thus verified not only that our oil was EVOO but also it was worthy of a gold medal in the opinions of the panel of judges (see elsewhere on this website).

Lab Test Results:

Since 2015 we have submitted our oil to the Wagga Wagga Testing Laboratory (NSW Department of Agriculture) shortly after harvest. Click here for information on the Wagga Wagga Laboratory www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/aboutus/services/das/olive-oil

The results show that La Grue Olives is producing EVOO.
